NDRC: China's Gross Ocean Product Expected to Exceed 13 Trillion Yuan by 2030
The National Development and Reform Commission held a press conference in its "Striving for the 15th Five-Year Plan" series to introduce efforts to foster and strengthen new growth drivers. Ma Weichen, deputy director of the Regional Coordinated Development Department of the NDRC, said the 15th Five-Year Plan period is a critical stage for China's transition from a major maritime country to a maritime powerhouse, and that China will keep working in three areas (new technology, new industries and new space) to steadily advance high-quality development of the marine economy. In terms of new industries, China will continue to consolidate the foundation of its advantageous marine industries, strengthen marine equipment manufacturing, enhance the overall competitiveness of marine transport, and promote high-quality development of marine fisheries. At the same time, it will accelerate efforts to explore new opportunities in the marine economy and vigorously cultivate new industries and business formats such as marine biomedicine, marine new materials and marine electronics and information. By 2030, China's gross ocean product is expected to exceed 13 trillion yuan. (Securities Times)
