Industry Institution Projects China's Auto Exports Will Surpass 10 Million Units in 2026

At a recent conference on innovative development models for automotive overseas expansion, hosted by the Che Baihui Research Institute, several attendees said China's auto industry going global is moving from a window of opportunity into a period of capability validation. As export volumes approach the 10-million-unit milestone, whether Chinese automakers can "stand firm" in overseas markets will depend on whether systematic capabilities in areas such as services, data and supply chains can keep pace. China's auto exports have maintained strong growth this year. Data show that from January to September, China exported 8.205 million complete vehicles, up 65.8% year on year and already exceeding the full-year 2025 export total of 7.098 million units. Among them, new energy vehicle exports reached 4.006 million units, up 127.9% year on year, and have accounted for more than half of complete vehicle exports for four consecutive months. Several industry institutions project that China's auto exports will surpass 10 million units in 2026, setting another record high. (Securities Times)
