mcp-design
From the author
Build an MCP server, or bring an existing one into a project — choosing the transport, deciding which tools, resources and prompts to expose, keeping reads separate from writes, handling auth and credentials, and defining what failure looks like to the model. Use when writing an MCP server, wrapping an internal system as one, or evaluating a third-party server before wiring it in. Not for designing the individual tool signatures inside it (tool-design), and not authorization to install, configure or run any server against real systems.

- mcp-server-buildingseb1n/awesome-ai-agent-skillsDesign, implement, harden, and verify Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers with precise tool contracts, least-privilege authorization, safe transports, structured errors, and interoperability tests. Use when creating a new MCP server, exposing an API or data source through MCP, reviewing an MCP server design, adding or revising MCP tools, or preparing an MCP server for production.Testing★ 229
- tool-designnahid-sparktales/agent-dispatcherDesign the tools a model calls — names, parameter shapes, what a result returns, and error text written as an instruction the model can act on. Use when adding or reshaping a tool or function an LLM invokes, when an agent keeps calling the wrong tool or passing malformed arguments, or when reviewing a tool surface someone else defined. Not for building the MCP server that hosts the tools (mcp-design), not for forcing a model's final answer into a schema (structured-output), and not for prompt wording outside the tool definition.Design★ 59
- mcp-server-builderalirezarezvani/claude-skillsDesign and ship production-ready MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers from OpenAPI contracts instead of hand-written tool wrappers. Python and TypeScript support, schema validation, safe evolution. Use when exposing an existing API as an MCP server, building tool integrations for Claude or Codex or Cursor, or scaffolding an MCP project from scratch.Design★ 28.7K
- mcp-builderanthropics/skillsGuide for creating high-quality MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers that enable LLMs to interact with external services through well-designed tools. - build-mcptechwolf-ai/ai-first-toolkitBuild an MCP server end to end, tailored to how it will be used. Use when asked to build an MCP, create an MCP server, wrap an API as a tool, make a tool for Claude, expose a service to an agent, build a Claude connector, or turn a service into MCP tools. Asks up front who the server is for (just me, my org, or public) and what it wraps, then walks through analyze, build, deploy, scale, and distribute with steps tailored to that answer. Builds on the example-skills:mcp-builder skill for implementation depth.DevOps★ 138
- agent-interface-designNeeeophytee/finding-unknowns-skillsDesign tools, scripts, and CLIs that an agent will call, so the interface teaches its own use instead of a wall of prose and examples. Use when building an MCP server or tool definition, writing an agent-facing script, or when an agent keeps misusing a tool it already has.Design★ 353
