ponytail-audit
From the author
Whole-repo audit for over-engineering. Like ponytail-review, but scans the entire codebase instead of a diff: a ranked list of what to delete, simplify, or replace with stdlib/native equivalents. Use when the user says "audit this codebase", "audit for over-engineering", "what can I delete from this repo", "find bloat", "ponytail-audit", or "/ponytail-audit". One-shot report, does not apply fixes.

- ponytail-reviewDietrichGebert/ponytailQuality review of a change: is the logic right, is it safe, does it hold under real load, is risky code tested, is it fast enough, and is every line needed. Reads the connected code, not only the diff. Each finding is explained in plain English. Use for "review this", "code review", "review the last commit", "review my PR", "is this over-engineered", /ponytail-review.Engineering★ 175.2K
- fuck-over-engineeringvinta/hal-9000Use when the user asks what could be deleted or reduced to simplify a codebase, says "simplify", "over-engineered", or wants a repo-, folder-, or file-wide audit for over-engineering — hunts dead code, reinvented stdlib, needless dependencies, and single-implementation abstractions, reports ranked cuts, applies only the picks. Not a diff review and not a bug huntEngineering★ 141
- chisle-auditJayPokale/ChisleOne-shot efficiency audit of a file, diff, or whole repo across BOTH axes at once: over-engineered code (reinvented stdlib, needless abstractions, speculative config) AND bloated prose (verbose comments, padded docstrings, redundant doc sections). Neither a pure code-minimizer nor a pure prose compressor does both in one pass. That's the point. Ranked report, biggest saving first; changes nothing. Use when the user says "chisle audit", "/chisle-audit", "audit this for bloat", "what can I cut", "review this PR for over-engineering and verbosity".Writing★ 712

- ponytail-debtDietrichGebert/ponytailList every `shortcut:` comment (and older `ponytail:` ones) as a debt ledger. One-shot report, changes nothing. Use for "ponytail debt", "what did ponytail defer", "list the shortcuts", /ponytail-debt.Other★ 175.2K
- chisle-reviewJayPokale/ChisleReview a diff or file through the Chisle lens: flag over-engineering, speculative abstractions, reinvented stdlib, and verbose code that a lazier approach would shrink. One finding per line, no praise. Use when the user says "chisle review", "review this for bloat", or invokes /chisle-review.Engineering★ 712
