This is theoretical quantum physics work on dynamic quantum phase transitions in non-Hermitian systems, using a "density of Fisher zeros" metric to locate critical times after sudden parameter changes. It is a methods paper with no demonstrated hardware or application, so its near-term relevance to quantum computing is indirect. Readers interested in quantum control and simulation may find the framework useful, but the claimed improvements remain to be tested beyond the authors' models.

Can rapid changes to a quantum system’s properties cause instability even when those systems defy traditional rules? This work introduces a method using ‘density of Fisher zeros’ to pinpoint precise moments of such change, critical times, improving on previous techniques limited by exceptional points. It allows characterisation beyond standard Hermitian analyses, revealing how these instabilities manifest in complex quantum phenomena.

Analysis of complex Bloch vectors, descriptions of a system’s quantum state before and after a sudden change, reveals anomalous structures within Fisher zero lines during non-Hermitian quenches, instances where energy levels shift unexpectedly. The work identifies critical times when rate functions become unpredictable, improving upon existing methods used to pinpoint such moments in dynamic quantum phase transitions. Examination of how quantum systems respond to abrupt changes, particularly those lacking typical symmetry, resulted in new analytical techniques focused on “density of Fisher zeros”. This metric precisely identifies critical moments during these shifts; conventional methods struggle when ‘exceptional points’ cause unusual system behaviour.…
