Privacy Policy
Această pagină este disponibilă doar în limba engleză. Textul în engleză de mai jos este versiunea cu caracter obligatoriu.
This policy explains what personal data aiqbench collects, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the rights you have. We aim to collect only what we need to run the Service.
Effective date: 18 October 2026
1. Who we are
aiqbench (operated from Romania and reachable at privacy@aiqbench.com) is the controller of the personal data processed through the Service. This policy applies to the aiqbench website, applications, and related services.
2. Information we collect
- Account data. Your email address and display name. If you register with a password, we store it only as a salted hash — never in plain text. If you sign in through a third-party provider (currently Google), we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) from that provider.
- Preferences and content you create. Saved views, followed topics, your leaderboard layout, and any reactions you leave on news items, along with your questions to Ask and your progress through learning modules.
- Technical data. IP address, browser and device information, and server logs generated when you use the Service. We use short-lived, in-memory rate-limit counters to protect the platform from abuse.
- Error reports. When a page fails to load or work, our server and your browser send us a technical error report: the error message and code location, the page address without its query string, and the browser family (for example, Safari). Email addresses, tokens and IP addresses are removed before storage; no account, cookie or full browser identifier is attached, and reports are deleted after 30 days.
3. How we use your data
- To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
- To provide core features — personalized feeds, saved views, reactions, and learning progress.
- To operate, maintain, debug, and improve the Service.
- To protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Editorial insights and summaries on aiqbench, and the answers in Ask AI, are generated by Anthropic’s Claude API, which processes these requests as our processor; some may instead be generated by a language model we run on our own infrastructure. For Ask AI the request includes the question you typed, so please keep personal information out of your questions. Editorial insights are built from published news articles, not from your personal data, and children’s learning plans are never sent to Anthropic. We do not use your data for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you request), our legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve the platform, balanced against your rights), your consent (where required — for example optional communications), and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a language cookie to remember your locale; your theme choice is kept in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie. These are strictly necessary for the Service to function. Our visit analytics (Umami) runs in its cookieless mode and is never tied to your account. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell your data.
6. Sharing and third-party services
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in these limited cases:
- Authentication providers. If you choose social sign-in, the provider you pick (currently Google) processes your data under its own privacy policy.
- Processors, each under contract and only on our instructions:
- netcup GmbH (Germany), which hosts the Service and its database on a server in Vienna, Austria;
- Resend, which delivers our emails (sign-in links, password resets and the digest), so your email address and the message pass through it;
- Anthropic, whose Claude API generates insights, summaries and Ask AI answers (see section 3).
- News publishers. Aggregated content links back to third-party publisher sites, which have their own privacy practices.
- Legal and corporate. Where required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a merger or acquisition, subject to appropriate safeguards.
7. International data transfers
Your data is processed primarily within the European Economic Area. Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
8. Data retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Aggregated news records are retained on a rolling basis and older items are automatically pruned. Error reports are deleted after 30 days. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data, except where we must retain limited information to meet a legal obligation.
9. Your choices
You can review and update your profile and preferences from your account settings, and delete your account at any time. Where we send any optional communications, each includes a way to opt out.
10. Your rights
Depending on your location, you have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email privacy@aiqbench.com or use our dedicated data erasure request form, which also covers deleting your account. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority (in Romania, the ANSPDCP).
11. Security
We protect your data with measures including hashed passwords, encrypted secrets, access controls, and safeguards against server-side request forgery and abuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
12. Children’s privacy
aiqbench is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide notice by reasonable means.
