This study establishes a theoretical framework for extracting hidden spatial coherence and molecular properties from light emitted by randomly oriented chiral quantum sources. By incorporating higher-order multipole contributions like magnetic dipoles, the research advances our understanding of fundamental emission processes beyond standard dipole models. These findings provide critical insights for advancing precision spectroscopy and pharmaceutical development through deeper analysis of single-photon states.

New research details the one-photon state from spontaneously emitting, randomly oriented chiral quantum sources, revealing hidden spatial coherence.

Researchers have derived the precise quantum state of light emitted from randomly oriented chiral sources, accounting for contributions from electric dipole, magnetic dipole, and electric quadrupole radiation. This work, stemming from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, details how spatial coherence within that emission can reveal previously hidden properties of the emitting molecule itself. The study describes how mutual coherence between modes of different directions and polarizations arises from both quantum and classical perspectives. This research is a companion to a concurrently submitted analysis presenting the error bounds associated…
