goal-ambiguity-gate
From the author
Use the moment a request is underspecified and you are about to act on an ASSUMED goal. Enumerate the candidate goals the request could mean, project the action or artifact each one implies, and check whether they diverge: if two or more plausible goals lead to materially different actions or artifacts, ask exactly ONE targeted clarifying question; otherwise proceed on the most-likely goal and state the assumption in one line. Clarification is an evidence-producing action, not a delay — but one question, never an interrogation. Distinct from gsd-spec-phase (GSD-phase-bound, emits a heavy SPEC.md) and intent-router (fetch strategy, not goal disambiguation). Backed by agent goal-state inference (arxiv 2606.16813v1). Triggers on acting under an assumed goal when the request admits more than one materially different reading.

- clarify-intent-and-establish-shared-understandingInference1/clarify-intent-and-establish-shared-understandingWhether you're thinking or getting things done, be clear, specific, and methodical. Grounded in first principles, rigorously examine and refine a user's plan, task, decision, goal, strategy, proposal, or idea through structured, progressively deeper questioning, in order to bridge the gap between the User and the Agent. Use when the user explicitly requests grilling, challenge, pressure-testing, cross-examination, red-team review, pre-mortem analysis, or a decision audit. The goal is to uncover unclear objectives, hidden assumptions, contradictions, weak evidence, missing information, overlooked constraints, dependencies, risks, trade-offs, failure modes, and misalignment between intended outcomes and likely real-world results. Begin by establishing a shared understanding of the user's actual intent, goals, constraints, and success criteria. Ask focused, high-leverage questions rather than broad or repetitive ones. Adapt each question based on previous answers, probing deeper where uncertainty, unsupported asTesting★ 206
- asking-questionsoaustegard/claude-skillsGuidance for asking clarifying questions when user requests are ambiguous, have multiple valid approaches, or require critical decisions. Use when implementation choices exist that could significantly affect outcomes.Other★ 157
- askmeOutlineDriven/outline-driven-developmentUse when eliciting intent/scope/referents or gating long/bundled/high-stakes/hard-to-undo work: exhaustive/collaborative/adversarial/gate/batch/interview/scan/proposal. Not for one fork: use decide.Planning★ 55
- goal-testundefined-ui/second-brain-osTurn a vague task into a testable definition of done and generate an executable goal-test script for it, optionally with a bounded retry loop around a headless agent. Use when the user wants to run an agent in a loop, asks how to know when an agent task is finished, or says a goal like "improve X" needs to become checkable. Do NOT use for building eval suites over many cases — that is evals-bootstrap.Testing★ 1.2K
- intent-routerangel291592/Intent-RouterConverges an underspecified request into an IntentSpec: looks up what sources answer, asks only what they cannot, halts instead of guessing, checks delivery against the spec. Use when a request to implement, add, change, fix or configure leaves a decision open — scope, approach, failure behaviour, what done means — contradicts itself, reads two ways, or rests on a premise sources rule out. Silent on a fully stated request its sources do not contradict; not for explaining existing state.Planning★ 70
- guided-goaldavepoon/buildwithclaudeTurn a rough objective into a bounded, verifiable completion contract, confirm it, then execute it with a finite attempt cap. Use when the user wants autonomous work but the outcome, proof, scope, or stopping point is still vague.Legal★ 3.7K
