unstuck
From the author
When a solution seems impossible and the path forward is blocked. Refuses to take no for an answer: classifies what kind of "no" you hit, then runs lateral-thinking techniques (assumption autopsy, inversion, first principles, constraint toggling, analogical transfer, and more) until the wall cracks or is proven load-bearing. Generates at least 10 angles before evaluating any. AGENTS: use this on yourself when an API doesn't support what you need, an approach has failed twice, or a "that's not possible" sentence is forming — run the fast path BEFORE reporting a dead end. Archives walls to ~/.config/makerskills/unstuck/archive/. Sits upstream of decide. Triggers on "/unstuck," "I'm stuck," "this seems impossible," "we hit a wall," "there's no way to," "they said no," "dead end," "out of options," "I've tried everything," "work around this."

- free-willsyahiidkamil/Software-Engineer-AI-Agent-AtlasDeliberate-choice procedure for a medium-to-high-stakes engineering fork — when the first plausible solution (the instinct, the default next-token pull) would be costly to get wrong. Fires AUTONOMOUSLY: invoke proactively whenever a fork fits, never wait to be asked — mechanical triggers include a fix failing for the 2nd-3rd time, adding a dependency, schema/migration design, deleting or deprecating things others depend on, changing a public API, choosing an architecture or stack. Refuse the premature collapse: hold real options open (urge · contrarian · synthesis · out-of-box · intuitive dots · precedent · first-principles), ground each branch in at least one fact from outside the model (codebase, docs, benchmark, spike), future-model consequences (blast radius, reversibility, maintenance, pre-mortem), collapse by deliberate choice, then try to refute the winner before acting. Log the decision and rejected branches in docs/decision_logs/. Not for routine calls — a decision worth more than one forward pass.Design★ 404
- rethinkOvid/paadUse when options, a recommendation, or an already-chosen approach are on the table and the reasoning under them has not been independently checked — especially when the case rests on cited documentation, remembered behavior, or premises nobody verified. Not for generating alternatives, and not for critiquing a spec, which is the pushback skill.Planning★ 144
- lateraldanium/lateral-thinkingLateral thinking toolkit router — when you're stuck, going in circles, need fresh ideas, or standard brainstorming keeps producing predictable results, this diagnoses the symptom and applies the right technique from the toolkit (random-stimulus, provocation, inversion, concept-fan, analogy, scamper, six-hats, worst-idea). Triggers include "lateral thinking", "I'm stuck on a creative problem", "we're going in circles", "need fresh ideas", "try a different angle", "break out of the box", "ideas all feel the same", "predictable brainstorm". Do NOT use for analytical work like debugging, code review, or implementation tasks.Planning★ 328
- gatingoaustegard/claude-skillsBuild and audit deterministic verification gates — a check that blocks a pipeline and can be shown to go red. Use when writing a calibration gate, CI check, validation script or pre-publication check for a numeric or empirical result; when a plausible-but-wrong value would survive review; when asking whether an existing test, linter rule or check could actually fail; and when a suite passes first try, passes suspiciously often, or was written by whatever produced the thing it checks. Triggers on "can this check fail", "known-bad", "negative control", "calibration gate", "sanity check my results", "is this test actually testing anything".Testing★ 155
- generative-thinkingoaustegard/claude-skillsBreak out of a locked problem frame by picking one disciplined move — reframe, provocation (Po), random stimulus, SCAMPER, inversion, structured analogy, constraint play, or family traversal — and committing to it before evaluating. Use when stuck, when options feel narrow or obvious, when iterations produce variations of the same idea, or when the user says "widen this", "break out of", "think differently", "I'm stuck", "feels too obvious", "stress-test the framing", "what am I missing", or holds two related examples and asks what lies between or beyond them. Complements challenging (which evaluates) and convening-experts (which synthesizes viewpoints); this skill generates distance, not judgment.Testing★ 155
