Samsung TVs to Use Winbond LPDDR4 Products Starting Next Year, Accounting for About Half of Supply
According to industry insiders, Samsung Electronics' VD division has decided to begin purchasing Winbond's LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X chips starting next year. Relevant certification tests were completed in the first half of this year. Since reliability verification standards for TV chips are less stringent than those for mobile chips, testing was completed relatively quickly. However, as Winbond is a new DRAM supplier for Samsung, the company is currently going through procedural steps to notify major supply chain partners and customers to obtain approval. Given that negotiations will take some time, the actual introduction of Winbond's DRAM products into Samsung TVs is expected in 2027. Additionally, industry insiders further revealed that Samsung's VD division is considering configuring approximately 50% of its TV products with Winbond DRAM in 2027. (Sina Finance)
