NDRC: Future Industry Development Must Avoid 'Herd Mentality' and 'Clustering' Tendencies

36Kr1 min read

At a press conference held today by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) as part of its "Striving for the 15th Five-Year Plan" series, an NDRC official said China's future industries are showing strong momentum, and the next step will be to plan in a coordinated way, tailor measures to local conditions, and foster them in phases to advance their development. The official noted that China's overall competitiveness in future industries now ranks among the world's first tier, with more fields achieving "parallel running" and even "leading" positions. However, the official also acknowledged existing problems in future industry development, chiefly: original innovation capacity remains relatively weak, institutional and regulatory bottlenecks persist, and some localities show tendencies toward "herd mentality" and "clustering" in their planning and construction.
