Mexico Implements Nationwide Mobile Phone Restrictions in Primary and Secondary Schools
Starting November 3 local time, mobile phone restrictions took effect at public and private primary and secondary schools across Mexico. Under regulations set by the Mexican Ministry of Public Education, students are generally not allowed to use mobile phones, smartwatches, and other personal electronic devices during classes and recess, though exceptions are permitted for teaching activities, emergencies, health needs, or disability-related assistance. At the high school level, individual schools will set their own specific management rules. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said the new rules aim to reduce the negative effects of electronic screens on students' learning and social interaction, and to improve attention and creativity. Previously, education authorities in all 32 states of the country unanimously supported the measure. (CCTV News)
