China Reassesses Mineral Resources Inventory as New Catalog Released

36Kr1 min read

The Ministry of Natural Resources, in collaboration with the National Development and Reform Commission, released today's new 'Mineral Resources Catalog,' which further clarifies the number and types of mineral resources in China. This catalog will serve as a foundational basis for national mineral resource planning. Optimized and adjusted based on the previous 'Detailed Classification of Mineral Resources,' the new catalog categorizes resources into four groups: energy, metallic, non-metallic, and water-gas minerals. It confirms that China currently has 174 mineral species and 119 sub-species. The Ministry emphasized that establishing this catalog will register all mineral resources, support the formulation of exploration and development indicators by species, optimize layout, guide mining directions, and set up mineral rights. Additionally, it will facilitate the selection of strategic minerals for special protection systems and the development of differentiated policies for exploration, extraction, reserves, and import-export operations.
