First Navigation Channel Bridge Closed on World's Longest Cross-Sea High-Speed Railway Bridge
On the evening of October 17, the steel truss girder of the south navigation channel bridge of the Hangzhou Bay Cross-Sea Railway Bridge was successfully closed, becoming the first of the bridge's three navigation channel bridges to be completed. The Hangzhou Bay Cross-Sea Railway Bridge is a controlling project of the Tongyong High-Speed Railway. Located upstream of the existing Hangzhou Bay Cross-Sea Highway Bridge, it runs from Haiyan in Jiaxing in the north to Cixi in Ningbo in the south, spanning the Hangzhou Bay, and has a total length of 29.2 kilometers. It is currently the world's longest cluster-type cross-sea railway bridge under construction and has the highest construction standards. The bridge consists of three navigation channel bridges in the north, middle and south, as well as approach bridges over the sea and in shallow areas. The south navigation channel bridge, located in the central waters of Hangzhou Bay, is 814.5 meters long and uses a steel-truss composite girder cable-stayed bridge structure with a main span of 364 meters, allowing passage for vessels of up to 3,000 tons.
