The State Administration for Market Regulation has approved and issued the national standard "Sustainable Development in Cities and Communities: Indicators for Urban Services and Quality of Life." The standard establishes a quantifiable, comparable and traceable "yardstick" for measuring the level of urban services and residents' quality of life. It sets 122 indicators, divided into three categories: core indicators, supplementary indicators and summary indicators, covering 19 areas including economy, education, energy, environment and climate change, health, housing, transportation and safety.
