Li Qiang Calls New Zealand Prime Minister Luxon

36Kr1 min read

Premier Li Qiang of the State Council called New Zealand Prime Minister Luxon in the afternoon on October 12 at Luxon's request. Li stated that China-New Zealand relations are continuing to advance steadily, with new progress being made in cooperation across various fields. At the same time, the international situation remains complex and changing, with unilateralism and protectionism continuously impacting the world economy, leading to a stronger call from the international community for maintaining the multilateral system and enhancing open cooperation. Li pointed out that China is willing to always be a partner of mutual respect and win-win cooperation with New Zealand, continue to promote expansion and improvement in bilateral goods trade, actively explore potential in services trade, expand cooperation in areas such as new energy vehicles, photovoltaics, and wind power, and push for more tangible results. He hoped both sides would accelerate negotiations on the negative list for services trade under the China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement and achieve substantive results as soon as possible. Both sides should provide more convenience for expanding people-to-people exchanges and deepen cooperation in culture, tourism, education, youth, local government, and other areas to solidify the foundation of friendship between the two countries. As members of the Asia-Pacific family, China is willing to strengthen cooperation with New Zealand in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum and actively promote the construction of an Asia-Pacific community.
