IMF Chief Says U.S. Growth Alone Cannot Solve Rising Debt and Deficit
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says the United States cannot solve its rising debt and fiscal deficit fast enough through economic growth alone and must take additional measures. IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said Wednesday, "The U.S. government is very dependent on strong economic growth. Growth will certainly help, but it cannot bring about the necessary adjustments fast enough." She made the remarks during the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Bangkok, adding that some actions are needed. (Sina Finance)
