Apple Acquires Huxe Team via Reverse Acquisition

36Kr1 min read

Apple disclosed on the European Union's Digital Markets Act case database that it has agreed to acquire the team members and related technology of personalized audio startup Huxe. This deal is known in the industry as a reverse acquisition (reverse acqui-hire). Reports indicate Apple notified the European Commission that it agreed to extend job offers to "some employees of Huxe AI" while also obtaining a non-exclusive license to Huxe's intellectual property. Huxe's founding team previously worked on Google's NotebookLM project, which was recently renamed Gemini Notebook. Huxe announced on May 21 that it would cease operations; the team posted on its website huxe.com stating it would remove its apps from Apple and Google stores, stop services, and delete all user data.
