This research proposes a protocol for generating multicomponent Schrödinger cat states using photon-number-resolving measurements on multimode Gaussian states, specifically targeting superpositions of Fock states with number differences of four or eight. The study evaluates state fidelity scaling with detected particle counts and derives optimal configurations for these quantum schemes.

Generation of multicomponent Schr\"odinger cat states in schemes with measurement of Gaussian states

arXiv1 min read

arXiv:2609.00343v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: In this work, we propose a scheme for generating superpositions of Fock states whose numbers differ by four or eight. The proposed protocol is based on photon-number-resolving measurements on multimode Gaussian states. We compare of the generated states with multicomponent Schr\"odinger cat states. We evaluate the fidelity and determine how it scales with the number of detected particles. Furthermore, we derive the optimal configuration for the generation such states.
