This update extends Amazon's Alexa for Shopping assistant to manage shopping lists, gift registries, delivery instructions, billing questions, and recurring deliveries, and it is rolling out in the US. The article also notes Amazon's resistance to third-party AI shopping agents from Meta and Perplexity, which signals a platform strategy of keeping agentic commerce inside its own ecosystem. For AI readers, the notable point is the shift from search and recommendations toward an assistant that takes account-level actions on a user's behalf.
