This piece covers a commercial deployment of embodied AI: a quadruped robot doing autonomous navigation, equipment data collection, and hazard detection in steel plants. The more useful signal is the deployment itself, since industrial, non-standard environments are where robot-based AI perception and control are tested most. The article gives no performance metrics or deployment scale, so the claim that the approach works remains unverified.

Bringing Physical AI to Real Industrial Conditions: Chenjing Technology Empowers Steel Mill Intelligent Inspection

36Kr1 min read

At the 2026 Unitree Technology Partner Ecosystem Conference, Chenjing Technology unveiled its physical AI inspection solution for the steel industry, targeting high-risk, non-standard operating scenarios in steel plants. Built on a general-purpose quadruped robot, the solution enables autonomous navigation and obstacle avoidance, equipment data collection, and hidden-hazard identification and early warning, replacing high-risk, repetitive manual inspections. Unitree Technology founder Wang Xingxing noted at the conference that aligning models with real robots is a core challenge for embodied intelligence. Chenjing Technology's solution has already been deployed at several steel plants, and it continues to validate the feasibility of this alignment capability in industrial settings with complex plant environments.
