Korean Stocks Slide as Retail Investors Surge into US Equities, Net Purchases in Five Days Exceed August Total

36Kr1 min read

As South Korea's domestic stock market declines, retail investors are increasing their purchases of US stocks. In just five trading days, net inflows approached 3 trillion won, surpassing the entire month of August. Data from the Korea Prepaid Settlement Corporation's securities information platform SEIBro on the 7th showed that between the 2nd and 6th, South Korean retail investors' net purchases in US stocks reached $2.19753 billion, approximately 2.982 trillion won. This figure is higher than August's total net inflow of $1.96234 billion, more than double September's $1.00128 billion, and about 40% of last month's total of $5.42312 billion. In other words, the amount of US stocks bought by investors in five trading days is nearly equivalent to a typical monthly volume. (Sina Finance)
