The 2026 World Energy Storage Conference opened in Ningde, Fujian. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Xiong Jijun stated in his address that China's new energy storage industry has achieved significant results. Moving forward, the ministry will coordinate development and safety, strengthen technological innovation, adhere to demand-driven growth, build a global ecosystem, resolutely prevent 'involution' competition, and drive the industry's shift from scale expansion to innovation-led growth. Xiong Jijun noted that in terms of industrial scale, storage battery output exceeded 420 GWh in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 110%. As of the end of June 2026, cumulative new energy storage installation capacity surpassed 153 million kilowatts, representing a fivefold growth since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
