Tarim Oilfield Cumulative Ethane Production Surpasses 4 Million Metric Tons

36Kr1 min read

According to CNPC, the Tarim Oilfield's cumulative ethane production has exceeded 4 million metric tons, reaching 4.08 million tons, marking a new milestone in deep processing of natural gas in the Tarim Basin. Ethane is a key component of natural gas and the core raw material for producing ethylene; further processing of ethylene enables the manufacture of various daily and industrial materials such as plastics and synthetic fibers, making it a fundamental raw material for the modern petrochemical industry. The Tarim Energy Company, located in Luntai County, Xinjiang, has an annual natural gas processing capacity of 25 billion cubic meters. Its Lunan deep natural gas processing project is one of the largest single-unit natural gas deep processing projects in China's oil and gas fields. (CCTV News)
