Binance Freezes $2.5 Billion in Assets Following Suspected Hack
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has experienced a suspected hacking attack that led it to freeze more than $2.5 billion in assets and triggered a sharp drop in digital token prices. Binance said it has not confirmed that customer funds have been affected. A Binance spokesperson said: "We have received reports of a potential security issue and are actively investigating. At this stage, we have not confirmed that user funds have been affected. Our security team is urgently reviewing all relevant information, and once verified information is available, we will promptly publish updates through Binance's official channels." Nevertheless, Binance said it has currently frozen $2.54 billion in assets, and the frozen amount may increase further as its team works closely with law enforcement, issuers, blockchain intelligence firms and industry partners.
