The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) released its 2026 Trade and Development Report on the 9th, projecting global GDP growth at 2.6% for 2026, down from 2.9% in 2025; among them, the growth rate of developing economies is expected to slow from 4.7% last year to 4%. The report projects that 59% of global economic growth in 2026 will be contributed by Asia. The report also points out that East Asia plays a core role in the rapid development of the semiconductor and advanced computer manufacturing industries. AI products have become a major driver of commodity trade, but growth in AI-related trade does not automatically bring widespread development benefits. (CCTV News)
