This is an industry-led convention, not a binding regulation, setting out goals for interoperable infrastructure for AI agents: registration, capability discovery, intent parsing, routing, and resource metering. Its practical weight depends on whether the signatories turn these goals into shared technical standards and open protocols. Readers should watch for concrete specifications and benchmark deployments rather than the stated ambitions.
Huawei, Alibaba and 18 Other Organizations Join Forces to Build Interconnected Infrastructure for AI Agents and Accelerate Their Empowerment of Industries
Today, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, Xiaomi, Baidu, Volcano Engine and 13 other organizations jointly released the Agent Development Self-Discipline Convention. It calls for building interconnected agent infrastructure, jointly developing interoperable infrastructure, and advancing technologies and standards for agent registration and parsing, capability description and discovery, intent understanding and conversion, network routing and connection, resource scheduling and metering, and protocol compatibility and mutual recognition. The aim is to continuously reduce the cost of cross-domain agent discovery and connection and support coordinated agent interconnection. The convention also stresses accelerating agents' empowerment of industries across the economy. Committed to serving the real economy, it calls for developing low-threshold tools for agent development and deployment, co-developing agents for real operational scenarios that create tangible value, and promoting the embedding of agents into existing production systems and business processes to build benchmark applications. It also aims to continuously lower the cost of deploying agents in practice to help industries improve quality and efficiency. (Securities Times)
