Alison Family Expected to Invest $17 Billion in Warner Bros. Acquisition Deal
According to public filing documents, David Ellison and his family have invested approximately $17 billion to complete Skydance Media's acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. The filings show that David Ellison, son of Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, and his family purchased about 1.4 billion shares in this stock offering at a disclosed subscription price of $12 per share. The merged new company will be renamed Skydance Corp., and its spokesperson declined to comment. In this $110 billion Warner Bros. acquisition deal, the total equity financing is $47 billion. Three Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds plan to contribute $24 billion, Red Bird Capital Partners $4 billion, and South Korean retail conglomerate Shinsegae Group $1 billion. This $17 billion investment follows an additional commitment by the Ellison family and Red Bird Capital last year of approximately $8 billion to gain control of Skydance Media. The Ellison family controls the company through voting shares. (Sina Finance)
