The notable step is running QKD channels alongside classical DWDM traffic on active, third-party lit fiber, which could lower the cost and operational overhead that have limited QKD deployments. The performance claims and the IPsec VPN demonstration are vendor-reported, so readers should look for independent field data on key rates, distances, and multi-tenant reliability. The hybrid QKD-plus-PQC design also reflects a pragmatic view that PQC covers the near-term gap while QKD adds a physics-based layer.

Toshiba Launches Modular QSN Platform to Scale Hybrid QKD and PQC Across Lit Fiber Networks

Quantum Computing Report4 min de cititArticolul și perspectiva sunt în engleză.

Toshiba has launched its new Quantum-Safe Networking (QSN) Platform, a modular hardware and software architecture designed to scale quantum-secured communications across various networks. This platform overcomes the limitations of traditional quantum key deployment by enabling quantum channels to coexist with classical data traffic on standard optical fiber, eliminating the need for dedicated dark fiber. The QSN Platform integrates Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) to mitigate cyber risks and has been successfully demonstrated in securing enterprise IPsec VPNs. Toshiba Corporation (TYO: 6502) has launched its carrier-grade Quantum-Safe Networking (QSN) Platform, introducing a modular hardware and software architecture engineered to scale quantum-secured communications across telecommunications, enterprise, and data center infrastructures. The platform shifts quantum key deployment away from rigid, expensive point-to-point dark-fiber connections toward dynamic, multi-tenant optical topologies. Designed to mitigate “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later” (HNDL) cyber risks…
