This article is about government readiness for post-quantum cryptography, a policy response to the security risks of future quantum computers. It is a useful signal for quantum readers on how the migration timeline is shaping regional policy, though the 2029 estimate is an industry projection, not a settled forecast. The concrete action items, such as procurement requirements and financial-sector guidance, matter more than the headline risk.

The Quantum Security Transition: A Policy Agenda for Post-Quantum Readiness in Asia Pacific

Cisco Blogs6 min de cititArticolul și perspectiva sunt în engleză.

Governments should treat quantum risk as a national resilience challenge, integrating post-quantum cryptography into cybersecurity strategies and procurement to protect critical infrastructure and ensure long-term digital trust.

Encryption is a quiet foundation of digital trust. It protects government services, financial transactions, critical infrastructure, healthcare records, software updates and digital identities. But that foundation is approaching a major transition. Cryptographically relevant quantum computers could break many public-key cryptographic systems used today – with some in Industry estimating this could happen as early as 2029. The risk begins before those computers arrive: adversaries can already collect encrypted data now and decrypt it later, an approach known as “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later.” A related “Trust Now, Forge Later” risk could undermine future confidence in digital signatures executed today to validate software, firmware, certificates, business agreements, and transactional records. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) addresses these risks with algorithms designed…
