Thales has launched the Luna 8 module to address "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" threats by supporting cryptographic agility for current and post-quantum algorithms. This hardware solution allows enterprises to transition securely without disrupting existing infrastructure as quantum computing capabilities advance. The focus remains on protecting sensitive data against future decryption risks through upgraded architectural flexibility.
Thales Luna 8 module protects data from future quantum attacks

According to the 2026 Thales Data Threat Report, 59% of organizations are prototyping and evaluating post-quantum cryptography algorithms, and Thales announced Luna 8, a next-generation hardware security module designed for the transition to post-quantum cryptography. Luna 8 enables organizations to securely store, protect, and manage cryptographic keys with high-performance support for both current and post-quantum algorithms.
Fifty-nine percent of organizations are already prototyping post-quantum cryptography as concerns mount over future attacks, according to the 2026 Thales Data Threat Report. Thales responded by launching Luna 8, a hardware security module designed to address “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later” attacks by securing cryptographic keys for both current and post-quantum…
