Scaling of entanglement with distance between subsystems: detection of phase transitions in the $t'$-$\pi$-flux model
arXiv:2610.23770v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: The system-size scaling of bipartite entanglement can be used to detect phase transitions. We develop a related approach for strongly correlated electron models where large density matrices or large system size scaling are inaccessible. To this end, we demonstrate that phase transitions of various kinds are signaled by a sharp signature in the first- or second-order logarithmic derivatives of the negativity measuring entanglement between small clusters at varying distances. Crucially, we show how to mitigate the effect of quantum Monte Carlo noise at large distances when computing the negativity. Our focus is on the $t'$-$\pi$-flux Hubbard model using auxiliary-field quantum Monte Carlo simulations. It has the particular advantage of showing three distinct phase transitions in a single model: semimetal to band insulator, semimetal to antiferromagnetic Mott insulator, and a magnetic order-disorder transition belonging to the Gaussian, Gross-Neveu, and O(3) Wilson-Fisher universality classes, respectively.
