Researchers at the University of Copenhagen and Bristol have introduced a compilation framework that standardizes quantum algorithm performance across diverse hardware architectures, including photonic, superconducting, and neutral atom systems. By recompiling circuits to account for specific error correction models, this tool enables direct comparison of resource requirements like qubit counts and runtime, facilitating more informed decisions on platform selection for complex simulations.

Researchers Simulate Molecules Using Ten Thousand Qubits

Quantum Zeitgeist4 min de cititArticolul și perspectiva sunt în engleză.

Achieving complete quantum simulations once required resources beyond current capabilities; now, calculations previously intractable are possible using approximately ten thousand physical qubits. This new compilation framework estimates end-to-end runtimes, from 102 milliseconds on photonic or superconducting platforms up to 105 milliseconds utilising neutral atoms. By recompiling circuits for diverse hardware and error correction models, it offers a unified approach to assessing algorithm performance across different architectures.

A new compilation framework now enables end-to-end quantum simulations, assessing algorithm performance across diverse hardware platforms. The platform-aware system recompiles quantum circuits for specific architectures and error correction models, providing estimates encompassing physical qubit count, time-to-solution, and classical processing requirements. Simulations utilising approximately ten thousand physical qubits demonstrated runtimes varying from one hundred and two milliseconds to one hundred and five milliseconds depending on whether photonic, superconducting or neutral atom technologies employ them. Researchers created a new system…
