Researchers have formalized a Service-Oriented Architecture that enables dynamic selection between classical and Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) components, overcoming previous limitations of fixed hybrid systems. This approach provides quantifiable guarantees for performance metrics like execution time and accuracy while improving design space exploration efficiency by approximately 31 times compared to ad-hoc methods. The work establishes a systematic framework essential for deploying adaptable software on current quantum hardware without relying on trial-and-error configurations.

Researchers Develop Hybrid Quantum-Classical Architecture for Computing Applications

Quantum Zeitgeist5 min de cititArticolul și perspectiva sunt în engleză.

Until now, combining quantum and classical computing meant accepting opaque trade-offs between performance and cost. A formalised architectural style and new method now allow dynamic selection of configurations, guaranteeing quantifiable quality of service. This enables a shift from fixed hybrid systems to adaptable software that responds to user-defined needs.

Quantum computing is gaining traction as a means to solve problems beyond the reach of conventional machines. However, quantum algorithms require costly, specialised hardware and cannot, on their own, meet all the demands of modern computing systems. Álvaro M. Aparicio-Morales and colleagues propose hybrid quantum-classical software systems, integrating both computing paradigms through Service-Oriented Architectures. The work addresses the unique challenges of designing and deploying these systems, particularly the constraints of Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) computers, by formalising an architectural style for hybrid applications. The results offer a method for exploring the design space and dynamically selecting optimal configurations based on quantifiable quality…
