The core idea is to make blockchain consensus resistant to quantum attacks by dropping the signature bundles (quorum certificates) that quantum computers could threaten, with each validator tallying votes from messages it receives directly. The evidence so far is simulation-only, at 200 validators, and the article's naming (Quantum Cadence vs. Quantum Chorus) and repetition make the design hard to assess. Readers should watch for peer review, real-network results, and how the fallback mechanisms handle faults and adversarial behaviour.

Researchers Bypass Blockchain Certificates in Post-Quantum Protocol

Quantum Zeitgeist4 min de cititArticolul și perspectiva sunt în engleză.

Two hundred validators agreeing on blockchain transactions typically requires broadcasting bundled signatures, a process vulnerable to future quantum computers. Now, a new protocol called Quantum Cadence bypasses these certificates entirely by having each validator independently tally votes from received messages. This “signatureless” approach maintains performance while potentially sidestepping a major vulnerability in post-quantum cryptography, according to simulation results.

Blockchains can now shrug off the threat posed by future quantum computers. Category Labs has unveiled Quantum Cadence, a new consensus protocol for high-performance blockchains that eliminates reliance on vulnerable signature schemes; it achieves this by removing quorum certificates altogether. Instead, each validator independently verifies quorums directly from received messages. Simulations with two hundred validators demonstrate Quantum Chorus, replacing existing protocols like Chorus, offers comparable speed and improved scalability as proposer numbers increase. Current blockchain systems use…
