Researchers Bound Signature Forgery to Q/q + 1/(q-1) Probability

Existing permissioned blockchains face a stark choice: rely on vulnerable cryptography or suffer massive performance penalties when upgrading to quantum resistance. Now, a new signature scheme, SILMARILS-MV, cuts verification costs by up to 22 times compared to current methods using just 71 KiB of authentication traffic per validator in networks of 1000 nodes. This unconditional security is achieved without trusted authorities, offering both scalability via threshold notarization and improved transaction throughput, committing 2.
SILMARILS-MV is a new multi-verifier signature scheme that achieves information-theoretic security for permissioned blockchains without trusted authorities or quantum channels. Addressing limitations of current solutions, often inflated consensus traffic or key transfer restrictions, the system offers strong unforgeability and linear aggregation with compact signatures measuring 32 bytes. Benchmarks demonstrate sharp performance gains; a Rust HotStuff prototype with 100 validators commits 2.8 times more transactions per second than existing methods while…
