This article details the expansion of the Quantum Resource Management Interface (QRMI) to unify scheduling across diverse HPC workload managers, effectively treating QPUs as first-class resources alongside classical compute nodes. By abstracting vendor-specific APIs and standardizing job lifecycles, QRMI addresses critical infrastructure challenges for integrating heterogeneous quantum hardware into existing supercomputing ecosystems. This development is pivotal for scaling practical quantum applications that require tight coupling between classical simulation and quantum processing units.

Multi-Institutional Consortium Expands QRMI to Standardize Quantum-HPC Integration Across Major Workload Managers

Quantum Computing Report3 min de cititArticolul și perspectiva sunt în engleză.

The Quantum Resource Management Interface (QRMI) is expanding to standardize quantum-HPC integration across major workload managers like Slurm, PBS Professional, and Kubernetes. This open-source middleware layer addresses challenges of integrating heterogeneous QPU hardware by providing a unified interface for abstracting and scheduling QPUs alongside classical resources. QRMI is already deployed in major supercomputing environments, including CINECA, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and the STFC Hartree Centre. QRMI architecture. A multi-institutional consortium comprising IBM Quantum, Pasqal, Alice & Bob, CINECA, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and the STFC Hartree Centre has detailed the expansion of the open-source Quantum Resource Management Interface (QRMI). Detailed in a research paper (arXiv:2607.19591), QRMI establishes a vendor-agnostic middleware layer that exposes…
