The Knut & Alice Wallenberg Foundation's support marks a strategic consolidation of six Swedish universities to address fragmentation and strengthen national coordination in the rapidly evolving global landscape of quantum technology. By integrating efforts across academia and industry, this new hub aims to accelerate progress from fundamental research through practical applications, securing Sweden's competitiveness against international rivals.
Knut & Alice Wallenberg Foundation Supports Quantum Hub

Six Swedish universities are collaborating to create the Swedish Center for Quantum Technology, a national hub designed to advance research, innovation, and education in the field. This initiative seeks to bolster Sweden’s position in quantum technology and facilitate the development and implementation of these technologies nationally.
A coordinated national effort in quantum technology is taking shape in Sweden as Chalmers University of Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Lund University, Stockholm University, Linköping University, and Uppsala University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly establish the Swedish Center for Quantum Technology. The initiative responds to a current lack of national coordination and aims to consolidate Sweden’s position in a rapidly evolving global landscape of quantum research and infrastructure. “If you want to join in, now’s the time,” says Jan-Åke Larsson, Professor of Quantum Technology at Linköping University, as academia and industry accelerate developments in quantum sensors, communication, and computers. Building on the foundation of the existing Wallenberg Centre…
