Researchers demonstrate a novel mechanism using Floquet driving to enable near-perfect quantum transport through disordered networks by leveraging reflection symmetry and specific state configurations. This approach effectively bypasses the conventional limitations imposed by disorder on quantum state movement, drawing direct inspiration from efficient energy transfer in photosynthetic complexes like FMO. The findings offer significant theoretical insights for designing robust quantum communication channels that maintain high fidelity despite environmental noise or structural imperfections.

Floquet Networks Achieve Near-Perfect Transport Despite Disorder

Quantum Zeitgeist6 min de cititArticolul și perspectiva sunt în engleză.

Inspired by photosynthesis, researchers demonstrate that Floquet networks can maintain near-perfect quantum transport, even with disorder, via specific design principles.

Researchers at the Physikalisches Institut at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Germany propose a mechanism for fast and efficient quantum transport within a network deliberately designed with disorder, a feat previously considered improbable given that disorder typically impedes the movement of quantum states. The work, inspired by the remarkably efficient energy transfer found in photosynthetic complexes, details design principles that allow for close-to-perfect transport. These principles center on achieving reflection symmetry in Floquet-Hilbert space and maintaining a dominant doublet or triplet of Floquet states. This mechanism relies on an interplay between inter-site couplings and driving by external vibrations, enabling efficient transfer even with variable on-site energies, and correspondence regarding the research can be directed to abu@uni-freiburg.de.…
