Algorithmiq and IBM have successfully demonstrated a verified instance of quantum advantage by validating complex materials simulations that exceed classical computing limits using the Quantum Heron processors. By open-sourcing their monoprop benchmark, they provide an independent framework for researchers to contest future claims, marking a critical shift from theoretical projections to empirically proven utility in chemistry and life sciences.
Finland Algorithmiq expands IBM collaboration to validate quantum computations beyond classical limits

Finland-founded quantum software startup Algorithmiq has strengthened its collaboration with IBM after the two companies demonstrated what they describe as a trusted instance of quantum advantage, tackling one of the field’s biggest challenges: verifying quantum computations that are beyond the reach of classical computers. Using Algorithmiq’s simulation models on IBM’s Quantum Heron processors, the partners showed that quantum systems can produce reliable results for complex materials simulations while introducing a new framework for validating such computations. As part of the collaboration, Algorithmiq is also open-sourcing its monoprop benchmark, allowing researchers worldwide to independently test future quantum advantage claims and advancing the use of quantum computing in areas including materials science, chemistry, and life sciences. Algorithmiq is a quantum software company developing algorithms and applications designed to help enterprises…
