Zhongqi Wuliang's neutral atom quantum computer represents a significant shift in hardware architecture by integrating systems into standard server racks, effectively removing bulky dilution refrigerators and specialized isolation facilities. This rapid iteration cycle demonstrates that commercial viability for neutral atom platforms is accelerating faster than superconducting alternatives without compromising core cooling requirements through self-contained laser techniques. The move signals a potential reduction in deployment barriers, making quantum computing infrastructure more accessible to data centers with existing power and space constraints.

At WAIC 2026, over 1,100 exhibitors showcased China’s tech advances, including Zhongqi Wuliang’s Qinghe No. 1—a neutral atom quantum computer designed for standard server racks.

A startup less than a year old is challenging the conventional infrastructure demands of quantum computing; Zhongqi Wuliang unveiled the system at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026, claiming it’s the first neutral atom quantum computer engineered for direct deployment in a standard server rack. This eliminates the need for the bulky dilution refrigerators, vibration isolation, and dedicated facilities typically required by superconducting systems. The company, a spinoff from the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, is demonstrating a rapid development cadence with three generations of hardware released in the last nine months, each smaller and thermally simpler than the last. With over 1,100 exhibitors participating in WAIC 2026, more than 300 of them making global product debuts, the conference is establishing itself as China’s…
