Amazon's massive expansion of its Nvidia GPU orders highlights the critical supply-side constraints currently facing large-scale AI model training and inference. Despite Amazon's parallel development of competing Trainium chips, the industry remains heavily dependent on Nvidia's specialized hardware ecosystem for immediate deployment. This surge underscores that infrastructure bottlenecks, rather than just software innovation, are the primary limiting factor for current AI growth trajectories.
Amazon just tripled its order of Nvidia chips over ‘surging demand’
