Since October, 225 Companies Announce Share Buybacks with High Proportion of Cancellations
According to Data Bao statistics, as of the close on October 12, a total of 225 listed companies have issued share buyback announcements since October (including shareholder proposals, board plans, ongoing buybacks, and completed buybacks, excluding private placements). Based on the upper limit of announced buyback amounts, the total potential buyback value ranges from 72.463 billion yuan to 135.36 billion yuan, with 41.628 billion yuan already implemented, reflecting active corporate buybacks. By industry, pharmaceuticals/biotech, machinery equipment, power equipment, and basic chemicals are the most active sectors, each with at least 20 companies issuing buyback announcements; the pharmaceuticals/biotech sector leads with 32 companies. Regarding the upper limit of announced buyback amounts, 21 companies have set limits of 1 billion yuan or more. CATL, Midea Group, Gree Electric Appliances, and Wuliangye rank at the top with potential buyback values of 40 billion yuan, 13 billion yuan, 10 billion yuan, and 10 billion yuan, respectively. Notably, among large-scale buybacks, many companies are adopting 'cancellation-style' buybacks, which effectively enhance long-term investment value and improve earnings per share, thereby bolstering investor confidence during stock price pullbacks.
