With over $1.6 billion in federal funding, Berkeley Lab and Sandia are pivoting from short-term exposure to a structured four-week summer school and accessible boot camps to address the critical quantum workforce shortage. By lowering entry barriers to basic algebra and targeting high school seniors, the initiative aims to build a diverse pipeline of professionals capable of meeting the demands of the rapidly expanding quantum information science sector. This strategic shift highlights that solving the talent gap requires not just advanced training, but also broad educational outreach and teacher development across multiple states.
